Jesus Camp

I am truly scared of Evangelical Christians. I believe they are perhaps the most frightening people on the face of the earth. I just watched this documentary called 'Jesus Camp'. Its about crazy Christians indoctrinating young kids. Try to track this documentary down and watch it of you can. The ironic part is the the documentary features Ted Haggard who is perhaps the biggest piece of shit in history.

Watch it and love it and then when your done you can go and burn some drug pushing, baby killing, America hating Liberals houses to the ground in the name of God.

Worst gift ever..

I went to my moms neighbors house as I have been doing for years on Christmas morning. All of the neighbors are always their and we eat and exchange pleasantries. So the gifts have been going down hill since I was a kid, but this year the pinnacle of bad gifts was distributed and the lucky recipient was myself. Now I have seen commercials for giving lottery tickets as gifts but the guy took it even a step cheesier. I received a green envelope that said to Collin from Santa from my neighbor Gene. It was a PA lottery envelope with the logo on it and the whole 9 yards. I thought to myself "man this is cheesy but Im sure it has a few 5 dollar scratch offs in it, right?". I opened the envelope and it contained, get this, one US dollar. Not only was I given a lottery ticket for x-mas, but I had to purchase the ticket myself. CRAP!!! The worst part is he watched me open it and I had to pretend to be really excited.

Pennsylvania

When you drive a pick up truck in the Maryland suburbs of DC its a little bit odd. I love my truck dont get me wrong, but you simply dont see many pick ups in MD. But let me tell you what, when you cross over the border into PA as I did today, your pickup and Gander Mountain hat are right at home. Rolling Hills, trucks with tobacco pin stripes and so much camo you would think its a primary color. God what an awesome state.

Random Crap of the non-woot variety part 3

Finding the motivation to write is allot harder when you are at home and have actual things to do as opposed to sitting in a hotel room for the 28th day in a row. Im just trying to get through this next week of work before I have 11 days off, I have not had that much time off since last Christmas and Its gonna be awsome. Below is a list of things I need to do/accomplish in my time off:

-Hunt ( thats going to be large portion of this vacation)
-Eat at the "Joes" for wingnight
-Eat at CK Wings ( this is going to be difficult seeing as its far away but Ill find a way to get it done)
-A quick side note, I suppose its painfully obvious that I like wings.
-Take my truck somewhere that their are no roads.
-Buy gifts at the absolute last minute.
-Distribute the afore mentioned gifts.
-Visit people

Im sure their are more things that I have to do but I cant think of them now.

Weekend Pics.

Being an east coaster, the Atlantic ocean is clearly the best ocean around. However, the pacific is pretty sweet.

The Axe!

Yesterday I had to fire one of my temp workers. Some background info. I am working on this huge Geophysics project in California to study the strength of the levees. We have two separate crews working simultaneously and each crew has three people (one person to run the equipment and two laborers to pound electrodes in the ground, hook up cables). So the company that I work for has a construction division here in Sacramento and each crew has someone from that department and a temp worker doing labor on their crew. To make a long story short, my temp worker sucked. He was a really nice guy and really meant well but I just don't think that he was able to keep up with the pace of the work and he was a bit lazy. However this job was amazing for this guy, its a state job and it pays 'prevailing wage' which is something like 35$ per hour (for them not for me) because the state has something worked out with labor unions or something like that. So this guy was excited to be working here. He would say things to me like "everyday you have me on this job boss is a blessing for me" (which is weird because he is like 30 years my senior and making more money). Now the decision to fire him was not mine alone. Everyone who worked on this project when I was at home said the same thing, 'we gotta get this guy out'. Anyhow it turns out that their where other labor people in my company that had no billable work and wanted to get on this project. One of my boss's asked if I thought they would do better work and I answered honestly 'yes'. He told me to let him go....

So at the end of the day on our ride home from the levees I had to tell him that he was done. I kinda thought he would be expecting it, but he was not. I felt pretty bad and he layed on the guilt pretty thick. He said things like " I hope that the temp agency can find me a desk job in time for the holidays for like 10$/hr" or "looks like well have no Christmas this year". Or perhaps when he called his wife when I was in the car and said "he got let go and don't worry well make it through some how", Ouch!!!

Not a fun experiance.
