Last week all I was really looking forward to doing some Kayak fishing on Saturday. Unfortunately due to weather and the fact that we had some people coming over on Saturday night I came to the realization that it was probably not going to happen. Well on Saturday morning after a night of cleaning I woke up and decided to throw caution to the wind and go out anyway. Char and I left pretty early and headed to the Bay. It turned out to be a gorgeous day (you meteorologists really dropped the ball on this one), and perfect for a paddle. We launched from Sandy Point State Park on the West side of the bay.

We paddled north for about an hour or so trolling some artificial lures to no avail. I abandon this technique because I dont have a fishfinder and I could not tell our depth, if their was baitfish around, what type of structure we where fishing over and if we where on the fish or not (all are critical to know of you are fishing to Stripers). We then changed our strategy paddled over to the Bay Bridge and did some bottom fishing. We caught some White Perch so we did not get totally skunked, I really should have used those Perch as bait and trolled again for some Stripers but we where running out of time and had to get home. We actually went further from the beach than I thought Char would feel comfortable going, at one point we were probably about 700 yards out. Char was trooper and is turning into one hell of a fisher woman.

I had planned on going out again today but I have the worst sun burn on both my legs that Ive ever had, I literally even walk. Mental note: always use sunscreen.
