Karma is a bitch...

Working Full time and hunting after work almost every day is exhausting. Here's a quick glimpse of my average day.

-Wake up at 5:15am
-Leave at 5:40am
-Arrive at work at 6:30-7:00 am
-Leave work at 3:00pm
-At hunting spot at 3:05, up in a tree by 3:45pm
-Climb out of tree and back at truck by 7:30pm
-Back at home by 8:30-9:00 pm
-Eat, talk to the wife, go to bed
-Repeat

Today I almost shot a deer that was 15 yards away. I was walking to my stand and I jumped the deer that was bedded down by an old chain link fence in the woods. The deer was basically trapped by a fence on two sides and me on the other. It ran in every direction and jumped into the fence repeatedly only to be catapulted back and land on its back over and over. I drew my bow and shot the trapped deer dead in its tracks.

Just kidding, all that did happen but I didn't shoot the trapped deer (although I did think about it) and instead 'shooed' it away. I thought that karma would bring that deer back under my stand later in the day and I would then be able to shoot it with a clear conscience, well karma is a bitch and I didn't see another deer all day.

In unrelated news somebody stole all the 'Obama' Signs on our street, including ours. Im a bit pissed but I cant help remember the time in 2004 when I walked completely hammered from the bar in Sq. Hill back to my moms house. It was about 3 in the morning and I walked about 3 blocks. I dont remember anything about the walk home, but I do remember waking up in the morning and seeing that my room looked like the Republican National Convention, I had stole every Bush Sign in a 3 block radius. I suppose that once again Karma is a bitch...

Wierd!!

This may be the first blog post ever written from a blackberry while 25 feet up in a tree archery hunting for whitetail deer. I found a nice spot about 5 mins from my office and I have been going into work early every day so I can leave early and spend a few hours up in a tree. Its about 80 degrees here which is horrible for hunting but I have been going anyway. Deer are only moving about 20 mins before dark so I sit up here for about 3 hours and wait for 20 mins of action. You get to see some cool stuff while your just sitting up here decked out in full camo. I watch about a zillion squirrels hiding there nuts underground, red tail hawks swoop down and try to eat the squirrels, I keep hearing a owl but have yet to see him, and yesterday I watched two teenagers walk through about 100 yards away who I pressume were going to fornicate in the woods.

Here's a pic but I'm not sure if it will work. I also wear a camo facemask but took it off for the pic.

Now I'm going to go and wait, listen and enjoy the most relaxing part of my year...

oblivious to the world

Its Archery season and I trying to spend as much time shooting, hunting or scouting as I can before I have to leave and go somewhere for work. I found an 80 acre patch of woods that's loaded with deer that's literally 3 min from my office. I had a deer at about 20 yards the other night and I flung an arrow at it, however I failed to notice that there was a small twig around 15 feet in front of the deer that deflected the arrow about 10 feet to the left and the deer walked off to see another day.

I cant really think about anything other than hunting. Today on my way to work I missed a turn, thats right I missed one of three turns that I make every day because I was thinking about stand locations and wind conditions. I also noticed that I had on both my contacts and my glasses as I was driving. I was so oblivious to the world that I had no idea.

I got it bad...

Where to begin??

I have no idea where to begin. The last month of my life has been insane. I really don't think that its possible to write it all down. So instead of writing a 30 page post that describes the wedding and honeymoon and all of that fun stuff I think I am going to go the other route and not discuss it at all. If you want to know how it went, give me a call and Ill fill you in. If I think of any stories that happened along the journey that need to be shared, Ill fill you. Meanwhile I will post a link to a web album of some of the pictures from the honeymoon here. There are other pictures that didn't make it onto the album and if you are somebody we met along the journey (Jess, Kieth or Renee) and have any interest in seeing the rest e-mail me and Ill send em out. I don't have any real pics from the wedding yet by should be getting them sometime in the next few weeks and when I do Ill throw up a link.

In other news archery season has begun here in Maryland and I need to drive to Pennsylvania here at some point ASAP and get the rest of my hunting crap. It pains me every day I sit in the office when I know there are people sitting in tree stands at the same instant. I know whats going to happen, as soon as I get my hunting crap I'm gonna end up getting shipped out some where for work and miss the rest of the season. Ill definitely get to do some late season with Eric between Christmas and new years so I really cant complain, especially since I haven't really traveled anywhere for work in almost 4 months!!!

Red Lobster all-you-can-eat shrimp season has arrived and I devoured many-a-shrimp this evening. God I love crustaceans.
